Quality Consultation &

Clinical Social Work Supervision

For Mental Health Professionals - LMSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, and LMFTs

Anthony has been approved as a LCSW supervisor by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (TSBSWE). He offers individual and group supervision for clinical social workers pursuing their clinical social work licensure. Anthony also provides individual consultation to mental health professionals who desire to enhance their psychotherapy skills in cognitive, psychodynamic, and group therapy.

Supervision Fees

The fee for supervision towards LCSW licensure is $85 per hour for individual supervision and $65 per for group supervision. In accordance with the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, all supervisees must complete a minimum of 100 hours of LCSW supervision over at least a 24 month period, not to exceed 5 years. Supervisees must maintain a minimum of 4 hours of supervision per month.

Supervision may be conducted individually or in a group setting. Individual supervision offers supervisees an opportunity to learn advanced psychotherapy skills that exceed agency based practice while group supervision assists supervisees in learning basic clinical social work practice in a variety of settings. Supervision offers the opportunity for supervisees to develop case conceptualization skills, learn differential diagnosis, and learn to conduct mental status exams. The supervisory process provides a road map for effective treatment planning, ethical decision making, and successful risk management strategies.

Anthony firmly believes that "social work is a science as well as an art" and hopefully by the end of your supervision you will be able to fluently apply both. He teaches the science of social work while helping supervisees to develop their own professional voice. Anthony's supervision supports a strong collaborative learning alliance that facilitates the development of therapeutic competencies and fosters the acquisition of clinical expertise. This type of supervision is different from most agency based supervision which focuses on structuring the work environment and providing the resources that enable workers to perform their jobs more effectively to meet the needs of the agency.

Because Anthony is committed to your professional growth, his supervision modality includes case presentations, reading articles, role-plays, and media. He is committed to providing supervision that emphasizes the helping relationship; provides support and is non judgmental; fosters an atmosphere to grow and develop clinical skills; and provides a safe space for mental health professionals to objectively reflect on their clinical work.

Consultation is available for mental health professionals seeking to enhance their clinical skills. It may focus on learning skills such as facilitating individual and group psychotherapy or learning how to apply specific treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Those seeking this type of consultation must commit to 50 hours of training over a 12 month period.

Being a mental health professional can be difficult work and emotionally draining. Oftentimes clinicians' confidence in their clinical skills can wane when it appears their clients are making minimal progress towards treatment goals. This can leave the clinician feeling incompetent and disillusioned. Therefore, it's important that all clinicians, new and experienced, utilize supervision and consultation to counter burnout, gain confidence in their skills, and promote therapeutic movement among clients.
